@How To Manage Diabetes

KNOWING ABOUT DIABETES

Glucometer
Diabetes is a sickness that has to do with the performance of the body hormone called insulin which help in the synthesizing of various level of sugar taken into the body through food or drink. There are so many food which there end product in the body later turn to sugar in form of glucose. Eg. Taking in of carbohydrate or starch. Insulin help the body to absorb the end product of those sugar end product food into the body system for body use which may result in physical strength.
Therefore, we can say that diabetes is a condition whereby the body is not able to regulate the the level of sugar inform of glucose present in the body, thereby causing excess sugar to be retain in the blood. A sugar which is suppose to be converted into a storable form by the liver for body use.
For the body to process the glucose from the blood properly and adequately, there has to be a sufficient body insulin. And this is why a diabetic patient takes insulin injection regularly since there is little or no sufficient insulin in his or her body.
Note: Not all diabetes require an insulin injection because we have two type of diabetes which are Type 1 and Type 11, and one need to see a specialist doctor to know the best medication will suite him or her.
SOME SYMPTOMS OF DIABETES
1.Excessive thirst and appetite
2.increase urinating
3. Loss of weight
4. Blurred vision
5. Dry mouth
TYPE I DIABETES
Type 1 diabetes is an insulin dependant in that without insulin injection administration the patient goes weak on and on until he or she takes it. The essence of giving the insulin is to keep the blood sugar level normal or close to normal. At a stage where one finds the blood sugar normal , one may need little or no insulin until when the sugar level is found to go off from normal range. This is why it is necessary one who is diabetic get for him or herself a sugar testing kit or meter to check from time his or her sugar level.
TYPES OF INSULIN
There are types of insulin which is been administered to diabetic patients according to their body need. For this reason one should not administer insulin without consulting a specialist doctor who finds out the right type of insulin that should be administered. We have Rapid-acting insulin, intermediate and Long acting insulin. In brand names we have such as Humulin R, Humulin N, etc. And we can see more information below on types :
insulin giving in the thign
insulin giving in the stomach
  • Humulin R (REGULAR human insulin injection [rDNA origin]) is a short-acting insulin that has a relatively short duration of activity as compared with other insulins.
  • Humulin R Regular U-500 (Concentrated) insulin human injection, USP (rDNA Origin) is a stronger concentration (500 units/mL) of Humulin R.
  • Humulin N (human injection [rDNA origin]) is an intermediate-acting insulin with a slower onset of action and a longer duration of activity than Humulin R.
  • Humulin 70/30 (70% human insulin isophane suspension, 30% human insulin injection [rDNA origin]) is a mixture insulin. It is an intermediate-acting insulin combined with the onset of action of Humulin
  • Humulin 50/50 (50% human insulin isophane suspension, 50% human insulin injection [rDNA origin]) is a mixture insulin. It is an intermediate-acting insulin combined with the onset of action of Humulin R.
Humulin is identical in chemical structure to human insulin.
INSULIN ADMINISTRATION
Insulin is administered with a needle and syringe of different sizes such as 3/10 mL/cc (30 units),1/2 mL/cc (50 units) and 1 mL/cc (100 units),Insulin may be injected into the subcutaneous tissue of the upper arm and the anterior and lateral aspects of the thigh, buttocks, and abdomen (with the exception of a circle with a 2-inch radius around the navel). It is usually giving in the thigh and it should be giving in the right amount so as to keep the sugar level normal.
PROPER MANAGEMENT
Any person suffering from diabetes, especially the Type 1 diabetes, should have in mind that it is a life long commitment to taking insulin, exercising regularly and maintaining healthy weight, eating of balance diet in the right proportion that is good for maintaining a healthy sugar level, and also monitoring blood sugar.
TYPE II DIABETES
This is a non insulin dependant diabetes which arises as a result of a resistance to insulin in their body cells which gives rise to diabetes.
This type of diabetes can be controlled by the use of tablets such as metformin in a brand name as glucophage and gilbenclamide in a brand name as daonil.
It must be prescribed by a medical doctor who must have had a proper diagnoses of the patient health status.
Function Of Metformin
The function of Metformin in the brand name as Glucophage is to reduce the release levels of sugar from your liver.
This stops blood glucose levels from rising too high, and means that the body does not have to produce as much insulin.
Metformin (Glucophage) may be used successfully as a medication for type 2 diabetes.
Function Of Gilbenclamide
The function of Gilbenclamide in the brand name as Daonil is to lowers high blood glucose by increasing the amount of insulin released by the pancreas.
It is used successfully as a medication to control blood glucose levels in patients with type 2 diabetes.
PROBLEMS ASSOCIATED WITH DIABETES TREATMENTS
There are some problems associated with diabetes treatments such as Diabetes Acidosis and Hypoglycemia which are mostly common:
Diabetes Acidosis
This is a situation whereby the patient suffers from lost of body fluid due to excessive urinating as a result of improper suger control and high level of sugar in the blood which is not properly controlled.
This situation is dangerous and can kill if it is not controlled immediately. And it can be controlled by replenishing of body fluid and proper administring of insulin.
Hypoglycemia
This is a problem which arises as a result of inadequate glucose in the patient or very low glucose in the patient which makes the patient seem like fainting. This happens mostly when the treatment is given in a higher doses compared to the sugar level in the blood and it can be corrected by administring sugar intake immediately.
DIABETES CONTROL
If you are diabetic, I want to tell you that diabetes is more about control, control in three steps:
-Control of what you eat:
One should be careful of what he or she eats when one is diabetic. Not all food is good for a diabetic person because some food can lead to high blood sugar.eg High sugar content foods and drinks or foods with high carbonhydrate. And one can contact his doctor for the kind of food suitable for his or her health condition.
-Control the quantity of what you eat
Not all food suitable for a diabetic person is suitable at all quantities. Some foods are to be taking in minimal quantities and some in a very little quantity while some at much quantity. Try to find out the content of what you eat and know which quantity of it should you take.
-Control your sugar level
Constant checking of your sugar level by use of LAB TEST RESULT eg. Fasting Blood Sugar or use of Glucometer which can be used on personal checking is very necessary to know when to slow down on some kind of things you eat or to check what you have been eating so as to normalise or to add up on you sugar level.
As you take these causions on Diabetes and its treatments I know you will find it a little more easier to manage or control.
